What Is Time Out Tuesday?

Time Out Tuesday is a special fundraising event by FGV Smart Start to support local children, families, and early childhood educators in Franklin, Granville, and Vance counties.

This event gives community volunteers an opportunity to take time out of their busy schedules to visit a local child care facility, learn more about the important work happening there, and help raise funds for programs and services that benefit children ages 0 to 5.

How Does Time Out Tuesday Work?

During Time Out Tuesday, each volunteer commits to a one-hour timeout period and is asked to reach out to friends, family, coworkers, and other supporters to raise donations. Each participant works toward a fundraising goal, with all tax-deductible contributions going directly to support FGV Smart Start programs and services.

The event is designed to be simple, meaningful, and community-focused. It gives participants a chance to see firsthand how early childhood programs make a difference while also helping raise awareness and financial support for those efforts.

Why It Matters

Time Out Tuesday helps strengthen the network of support available to young children and their families during the most important years of development. Funds raised through the event help FGV Smart Start continue investing in services and opportunities that make a lasting impact across the region.

Proceeds from Time Out Tuesday have been used to benefit child care professionals in a variety of ways, including:

  • Mini-grants to help improve child care facilities

  • Scholarships to support educators pursuing degrees in Early Education

  • Continued support for programs and services that serve families with children ages 0 to 5

The Benefit to Our Communities

By supporting Time Out Tuesday, donors and volunteers are helping invest in school readiness, early learning, and stronger child care environments for local families. The event also shines a light on the dedication of child care professionals and the vital role they play in shaping the future of our communities.

Time Out Tuesday is more than a fundraiser. It is a way for the community to come together, support early childhood education, and make a meaningful difference in the lives of young children and the people who care for them.
